Hi everybody!

Im brand new here and loving what im seeing so far! My quick story: went to school to be a lighting designer, turned that into photography. A friend of mine had a huge action collection, so i started shooting them.

I've been reading all the posts on the proper way to show my stuff, my apoligies if this is way wrong

I agree. really good pictures! Love the lighting, in particular on the last two.

Care to share your light setup? Please? ;)

thanks lederK!

my lighting system is pretty simple. i just went to home depot one day and bought 5 wall dimmers and 5 outlets and then wired them up so i could individually dim/control at the minimun 5 lights and the max 10. (let me know if you would like wiring detail)

The lights I have are typically used in theater (i don't have fancy photographer lights). They're called birdies, or mini-pars. Just a wide beam angle. The only control i have over how wide they are is the type of lamp i put in; as opposed to some fancier lights which you can spot or flood as needed.

I work in theater so i steal all my gel bits from there. the lights themselves are on a 3' wide by 2' tall grid.

after that i pretty much just knock a bunch of stuff around to get the light the way i want it.

i hope that helps! :D

Very nice! I believe perhaps the engineer is my fav.
I think I'll send this link to my sons- talk about huge action collections! they are photo geeks like me on top of it, but I don't recall having seen any of those shots.
Gonna have to work on my lighting setups, but am clueless. Always had the studio lights when I did this stuff for a living. Now I use whatever is handy. did a huge series of orbs using just a 20 watt halogen and some tea light candles. ROFLMAO they actually turned out ok. I believe one or two are still somewhere here linked to POTN

thanks wu!

Im a huge fan of using different kinds of light all over the place. What i love most about lighting design is the infinite possibility, stemming from thousands of possible sources.

I REALLY like the beast and the human torch, possibly because of the striking simplicity of the primary colours.
well done on a great set of images :)

Welcome and thank you for sharing both you picture and your studio.
My studio is almost as big as your but I shoot full size models so believe me there is not much room to move around :)
Your work is very creative. I realy like it.
Keep posting
