I will be attending a bike rally this weekend and plan to take my 10D and few L class lenses. My only storage will be in the hard saddle bags of a Road King.

Do you think the vibration will be a factor in anyway as to damaging or knocking the camera out of adjustment.

Perhaps a silly question, but I thought I would ask.

Has Canon ever done a paint shaker test on the 10D?:)

Any advice is appreciated,

i'm no specialist in camera shaking but i've used 10D and L lenses in bad situations so far, it's resistant.

but i'd suggest that you'd pack each piece individually in a bathroom towel for example, because if you fall (NO THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN) you may damage your stuff. this would not solve the shaking issue.

but this is a lot of shaking you are planning ...

I wouldn't do it. Get a backpack. Lowepro has some sweet, compact packs that are perfect for what you are doing.

I read somewhere in Shutterbug magazine that vibrations would loosen the screws in cameras and lenses. They would also unglue parts, if any.

I take my D60 and 70-200 f4 L with me to many Motorcycle events. Its packed in a padded camera bag and the camera bag is packed in the tail bag of my Buell XB9R. No problems and about 5000 miles this year.

BC -

I just returned from a 6500 mile ride from Connecticut to Montana / the Canadian Rockies. Fortunately I ride a Wing & vibrations are not a major deal. The weather is tho! I bought on ebay a Lowepro DryZone bag that sits on the passenger seat. It is absolutely waterproof and the padding it has will certainly dampen the vibrations from your potato masher - lol. I carried my 10D, 550 flash, 24-70 zoom, 70-200 IS zoom, 50mm, lens cleaning kit, extra batteries & charger. Plenty of space for me on the bike.
If you have a passenger & don't have the seat available, I used to wrap my camera equipment in foam rubber (scraps from an upholstery store) & stick them in my Vetter bags on my Kawi. That used to protect my Nikon body & lenses pretty well.
gl!

ps Of course you could upgrade everything & get a Wing! lol!
