more power

Hello all. New guy here. Just got a 10D. Shot a football game yesterday. Auto focus seemed to lag a bit. I used a 70-200 2.8 with a 2X. My question is: does anyone have knowledge that if I add the power grip (BP-511) might I get better response with more power (two batteries) vs the one in camera.
Just found this site. Looks great. Lots of info. I'll post some shots if I can figure all that out.

BigEd will not give you more power. It still uses one battery. Just one at a time. The 70-200L f/2.8 is one of Canon's best lenses. Using the 2X is where your problem lies. IMO they should cease making the 2X as almost everyone that uses it has a complaint about it.

For football, I'd consider the 400 prime, or if your budget can't handle that beast, the 100-400L. For outdoor sports, you can't beat the 100-400L. One of the best value lenses Canon offers.
