Good afternoon.

I just received, as a gift, a Quantray 24mm wide-angle lens that is supposed to be compatable for my EOS 10D.

However, under all settings, I receive an Error-99 code.

I have no compatability issues with my other glass and the 10D and the 24mm wide-angle works OK with our Canon Rebel film cameras.

I have carefully cleaned the gold contacts and nothing seems to work.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem with a used Quantaray 18-35 lens. Sigma is the manufacturer so I contacted them for help. I sent my lens to Sigma and within 2 weeks I had it returned and rechipped to work perfectly (or nearly so) with my 10D. As long as they have not run out of parts, Sigma will stand behind its lenses (including Quantaray). Give it a try. Here is the contact info I used:

Sigma Corporation of America
15 Fleetwood court Ronkonkoma, NY 11779
Tel: 631 585-1144
Fax: 631 585-1895

Good luck!

As a followup - The Sigma Corporation, which markets the Quantaray line of lenses in the United States (mainly at Ritz stores) quickly answered my inquiry and informed me that the Quantaray 24mm Wide-Angle f2.8 was not compatable with the Canon EOS 10D.
