This is a shot from a wedding a few weeks ago with the 85mm f1.8. This is untouched and straight from the camera, I was amazed at how it looks just like a water painting in the background! I totally love it. Just got the 50mm f1.4 as well (better with the horrible crop factor) so will post pics with that lens soon.

85 1.8 is my favorite lens, but is way too long most of the time for me unless I plan ahead. I've had it for over 2 years now and I can't express the joy I get when I see how sharp it is. Nice picture.

I've used that lens once, the color and sharpness is just amazing. The 50mm F1.4 is a good lens but not quite as good. I'm getting the Sigma 30mm F1.4 at some point, better on a 1.6X crop camera.

I love mine, too, and use it for Senior portraits and basketball. I know that's kind of a weird combination, but it works well for both things.

Tim, what are you using mostly at the weddings you shoot?

I love my 85 f1.8. It's one of my "magical" lenses (along with the 35L, 135L, 28-70L and 70-200ISL) that just makes people look so good! It used to be my main available light ceremony lens before I bought the 70-200 IS.

Yes, the 85 1.8 is awesome. I think I like the 50 1.4 even better though. I honestly think I could shoot 97% of a wedding with just the 50 1.4 and a reflector if I had to. I love it. I use the 85 1.8 for ceremony though. Wish I had the 70-200IS.

I like it very much, my most often used lens, BUT you should use the 85mm f/1.2, you'll forget all about it :)

I just sold my 85mm F1.8. It was a great lens, produced great shots. Just NEVER used it at a wedding. Seemed way to long on the 20D for general use.
I need to pickup a 50mm F1.4 shortly for available light stuff.
