Dear all,
I have just bought a Digital Rebel over the internet from the US, as the wait to get hold of one here in Hong Kong is months long.

It hasn't arrived yet but it suddenly occurs to me that the battery pack that comes in the kit (BP-511) will be not be designed for use here.

So the question is, what do you lot in North America use for Canon EOS cameras when you are travelling in the UK or Asia (240v versus the US 110v, as I understand it)? Is some kind of power adaptor necessary?

If so, what kind and what should I buy?

As I've just spent all my cash on the camera, the cheaper the better.

Cheers,
Cobblers

I have travelled with my 10D in the UK and Europe and all I needed was a plug adaptor. The 10D charger is model # CB-5L and is rated for 100-240V 50/60Hz. As long as the rebel uses the same chargers all you will need is a different plug adaptor.

Good Luck and enjoy you camera!

The only difference is the plug. The adapter end is very common in all kinds of electronics power cords, ghetto blasters, hifis, etc. You can certainly find an old cord at home or pick up another powercord anywhere in HK. No sweat.

Thanks both. That's excellent news. I can't wait for the thing to arrive now.

Thanks again,

i bought my 10D in japan

but when bought the optional AC adaptor it came with all cables for any part of the world (5 ou 6 cables)

it's true that you only need and adapter or need to replace the cable

because the charger allows anything from 110V to 240V ;) you only need to change the cable
