Hugh Taylor Birch does have a fee to get in:

I like that there's access to the beach though too, so should have loads of shooting opportunities whether you're in to landscapes, nature, birds, or almost anything.

Just a couple of suggestions. I'm open to whatever you guys want to do, although Broward sounds like a good option (and not just cuz I live there), because it's in the middle.

I just read that Loop Road (never been there either) is gravel and sometimes in really bad condition. Sounds like it's good for those with SUVs or Pick-em-up trucks, but somehow, I don't think my Toyota Corolla would be very happy.

Yes this is close to I-75 and Griffin Rd off Orange Drive.

The park was recently expanded and now it is used often for commercial photo shoots, horse back riding, cycling, jogging up the old landfill or along the designated exercise trail plus you can fly your model airplane or parasail off the top of the elevated area.

I am trying to get one or two local models to do a photo shoot along the exercise trail, using one or more of the exercise stations.

I made the mistake of going to ZooMiami on July 29th when the high was about 95 degrees. Never again.

I will be going back to the zoo the day ofter Thanksgiving or the day after Christmas.

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino invites amateur and professional photographers to spend Monday morning, January 16, photographing the country’s top thoroughbreds during training hours while being hosted by award-winning photographer Adam Coglianese.

Between 7:30-10 a.m. Monday, photographers of all levels will have the unique opportunity to take pictures from Gulfstream’s winner’s circle, walking ring and apron. Coglianese will be available throughout the morning to answer questions and give tips on photographing the country’s finest thoroughbreds.

“Morning training hours is very special and this will be a unique chance for photographers of all ages and levels to come out to Gulfstream and enjoy the experience,” Coglianese said.

Those attending will be invited to post their morning photographs on http://www.facebook.com/GulfstreamPark. Photographers will be asked to register before entering the walking ring.

Coglianese, a native of Long Island, N.Y., followed in the footsteps of his father as track photographer for New York Racing and has taken some of racing’s most memorable photographs, including those of Cigar, Rachel Alexandra and Big Brown.

check out the video on you tube. never shot there befor. drove by and checked the area out. found out its a 6 mile walk from the gate. if you go on Google maps search, ( ingraham highway and sw 232 ave. homestead , fl.) take 232 street south you will come across the site. the rocket is in the last building to the south. its out in the boonies. in deep south Homestead.

exactly my thoughs as well. I know you can't be lazy with photohgraphy, but still. Yea. 6 miles might be too much for my back as i have 2 herniated disks.

It's a basic Mongoose XR250 frame with Deore XT/LX components, 203mm disc brakes front and rear and 2.7" downhill tires, but it's got super short gearing for getting over stuff, shortest gear is like a 28-34. I'm actually planning on going shorter like 26 or 24-38. It has weather-sealed hubs and sealed bottom-bracket to keep water and moisture out and all of the bolts and nuts are dipped in silicone grease to ward off rust and moisture.

It's a crawler basically, a human-powered deuce and a half. I've been up almost to the handlebars in water, it crawls over stumps and logs with ease as long as I keep momentum. On dry land it will power through 2' cabbage palms.

I'm fabbing up a steel plate insert to go in the tires for added protection but so far i haven't had any punctures, using thorn-resistant tubes and 3-ply tires. It isn't too hard to build something like this, anyone could build this and probably with a much better frame.

I have driven up to the gate, I have not ventured any further since I was with a company truck. as for bike i know the road is paved so any bike will work. I will try to take my bike if I can get it in to my Pathfinder.
it looks like I will be making it out there on Sunday the 2nd early i would say about 7:30 or so. if anyone wants to go PM me and we can set a time and place to meet up, if anyone would like to change the date let's get everyone

if you go on your own this is how to find it. Google maps search, ( ingraham highway and sw 232 ave. homestead , fl.) take 232 street south you will come across the site. the rocket is in the last building to the south. its out in the boonies. in deep south Homestead.
