View Full Version : A70 Soft Images

I know the problem of "soft images" is well-known between A70 users: I am suffering of it as well, and if I don't find a solution, my first experience with digital cameras is going to be the last.
Actually it seems a lost of information during the JPEG compression, in fact images cannot be treated very well with Photoshop.
Is there in your forum any answer (or solution) to this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeff,

As far as I know it's a issue that Canon cameras have but it's because Canon don't apply that level of sharpness that other brands usually does... and it seems to be good since you can do that in a more controlled way in the photoshop using unsharp mask (or sharpening in other progs).

I use unsharp mask with values between 0.5 and 1.8... it usually depends on how much "soft" are your images (since the "out of focus" problem gives you soft images too)

Great, I just tried unsharp mask and it definitely improves images a lot, just playing with settings.
Which parameter you were referring to?

Use of either Manual or Av mode wherever possible to keep the aperture as small as possible helps a lot too.

Oh yeah, sorry Jeff... I was talking about "Radius" ;-)
