I'm shooting an outdoor wedding Saturday (my first!)

It's supposed to be overcast/partly sunny...
Here's my plan for shooting:

-Processional coming down the aisle, I'll use evaluative metering, and A/V mode and no flash(unless it is really dark) using 28-70mm L lens

-During ceremony, I'll eval. metering again, A/V mode with 70-200mm L lens, no flash (per Rev.)

-Group shots/poses after ceremony,i'll start with eval metering and A/V mode, then shoot again in A/V mode with fill flash, if needed. THEN I'll switch to Manual mode and meter off gray card using fill flash when needed. i'll use the 28-70mm again.

Does this make sense?

thanks for any feed back!

Sounds like a good game plan. You shooting raw or jpeg?

At least. I think for group shots you should do at least four or five 'cause you're going to get blinkers!

RAW, definately.

I started shooting RAw last year and love it.

Thanks!

sounds good! I'm actually going through the same thing. I have an outdoor wedding coming up in July, I am in the process of buying the 70-200 f/2.8 IS and the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, this seems like a great combo. What are you using for your Raw application? I was thinking about buying Aperture from Apple, Do you know if this is worth $200

Consider doing some of the group shots before the wedding, if at all possible. In that way, the reception isn't delayed as much.
