Just out shooting with my spanking new 10d,when the battery got down to about 1/4 of a charge the camera wouldn't fire,I turned it off and back on again, fired a few shots and it happened again.Anyone have this happen to them.
Also shooting a football game I set the AF to Al Servo, the result where poor. Also when I went into the Canon software those shots didn't show where the focus mark was set to.
Would like to add that many of the messages posted on this forum have made me a better photographer and better informed on digital photography.

All i can say boby is that having shot 13,000 plus images with the 10D i have never had it "freeze" when the battery goes low. Perhaps you just let it get lower than I have,. but I find I can still take many pictures when the guage goes down.
Do you have only one battery?
Ifit is very new I would recharge the battery and just see if such a thing hapnes again. When the battery gets down to that 1/4 mark,. it may be time to swap/recharge the battery.

Not sure what is going on with your camera, but I have had power questions of my own. I do use the vertical grip, and have never been totally clear on if the battery meter displays both batteries powers combined, or goes from one battery until it drains, then to the next.
Part of the confusion here is that my battery meter will go from full power to 1/4 power relatively quickly, but then will go forever at 1/4 power before the batteries actually give out. The other thing I have thought is it could just be a bug in the battery meter, that it doesn't register the power correctly.

I have used the battery until it was using the last few electrons. It was cold out and I had a few more shots to do. I popped out the battery and put it in my pocket for a while and then made the shots.
The problem was it corrupted the memory card. I was able to save the days shooting using Norton Utilities, but all the files were now numbered xxxxx.chk. I never had that problem when I changed the battery when it said it was low.
I do agree with the previous posts on the meter. Its a poor indication of how much battery life you REALLY have.
