Hello all,
I am having a ton of problems printing pictures from my D60 on my Epson 1280. I am pretty sure the problem has something to do with color profiles. I bought one of those monitor calibration spyder thingies and now everything sucks! When I print, the print comes out with a very strong blue or pink cast and is rendered as though it were a negative. Has anyone had this problem? Can anyone offer any solutions? I hope so, otherwise me and my printer are taking a walk out onto my balcony, and only one of us is coming back! Thanks in advance, Dave

The monitor profile that is generated when you calibrate it with the Spyder will have no direct effect on the printer output. It will merely alter the way images are displayed. Only if you alter the images to make them look "right" on the calibrated monitor will the printer output be affected. The monitor profile is loaded automatically when you power up the system. To see which profile is being loaded (in Windows), right click on the desktop, select Properties->Settings->Advanced->Color Management, where the default profile will be shown.
If you are using Photoshop, you should specify the correct printer profile for the paper you are using in the Print Space Profile box in Photoshop's Print with Preview option. (Check "Show more options" and select Color Management. Set Source space to be Document and Intent Perceptual). The printer profile will have a name like " EPSON Stylus Photo 1280 Matte Paper - Heavyweight". If these profiles are not available on your machine, you can download them from the Epson site. They are supplied in the PIM plugin package. There are colorlife profiles separately available too. In the printer driver, select the correct media type and in the Advanced options choose "No Color Adjustment".

I think this post from a prior thread may be helpful to you. Make sure that the monitor profile you created is located in the directory below and is selected as the default profile in the color management section of your display properties. (Rt. click on monitor background>Properties>settings>advanced>color management.)
Here is the prior post: After using the links provided by Kevin Connery, I was able to set up my system for Color Management with the Epson Stylus 2200! There are ICC Profiles for this printer hidden on the Epson CD in the PIM Folder. Here is how I set it up:
1.Copy these ICC files to the c:windows\system32\spool\drivers\color folder on your computer.
2.Go into Control Panel>Printers>Epson 2200>Properties>Color Management>ADD>individually select and add the sp2200 ICC files. Then click OK.
3. Photoshop Elements 2.0>open picture>Print Preview>check- other options>source=Adobe RGB( 1998 ), Output= sp2200____(glossy, semigloss, et.),Perceptual,from pull down menu.
4. Print> select appropriate paper>Advanced-check "no color adjustment" > Print
To check to see if it is the profile you created that is the problem, create one with Adobe Gamma in your XP Control panel, use that and following the same procedure above see if that resolves your problem.
If I just bored you to death, sorry.

I want to thank both of you for your assistance. I followed your advice and my printer is working great. Again, thanks a ton, Dave
