Hi all. I'm new in this forum. I've bought last saturday a Canon EOS 10D but yesterday I discovered an abnormal red pixel. I've tested the camera at 400 ASA for 2'' and a red pixel appears in the back of the dark image. It's normal or I have to change it? At long exposure (i.e. 240'' 400 ASA) I've 15 white pixel. For long exposure it's normal or also here the white pixel are a CCD bug?
Thank all

The Canon 10D does not have a CCD sensor.
Before you get rid of the camera, first decide whether the stuck pixel just shows on the rear display (which is only cosmetic) or whether it really shows up on the image (which is unacceptable).

I have found quite a few dead (more like hot -- you know -- bright, isolated, colored looking squares) especially on longer (low light) and at 100 ISO.
I guess my concern or question would be -- how many are within tolerances.
As an example, my computer monitor is an LCD screen, and there is a tolerance for the number of allowable dead pixels before the monitor could be considered for return or exchange as a manufacturer defect under warranty. So, if I had anywhere up to six (confirmed) dead pixels out of all of the pixels on the entire screen, then it can be returned as defective. (On an LCD, the dead pixels can actually move around in the liquid -- not usually visible as your just sitting there, but they can migrate around the screen).
So, on my 10D, how many hot pixels or how many dead pixels do you think are within allowed tolerances before it could be considered defective and should be returned? And, under long exposures even at very low ISO, can you expect a certain number of hot pixels no matter what?
Oh and by the way, these hot pixels are what I see when I view the image on the computer (RAW or TIFF, FVU and Photoshop 7.01) -- this is NOT something that I can see on the LCD of the camera.

In my case, the red pixel is in the real image downloaded in my PC, not in the rear display. So you think I must change it?

Gross!! I found one on my 300D and it disgusts me. It shows up on all of my images no matter what iso, no matter what shutter speed. I hate it. The fact that you spend 1000+ means you should have a nearly flawless sensor.. and thats exactly what I want. I contacted my retailer and I'm sending the camera back as soon as they ship me a shipping label and I'm going to get another 300D sent in.
The dot isn't that bad w/ 6.3MP... u barely see it at 50% and resized it disappears.. but if I were to blow up a series of images, I'd have to edit all the pictures.. which seems unecessary for a new camera and definitely unacceptable. Lets just hope my 2nd camera turns out better. ;)
