Shot this while wandering River Forest, IL while my truck was in the shop. (Damn Pep-Boys and thier impact wrenches for ruining my lug nuts!) I had been reading Bryan Peterson's Learning to See Creatively and trying to put it into practice when I found a ball left behind at the ball park.

Joe,
I think the composition, DoF, and colors in this image are great. As far as capturing the "feel" for summer I think it succeeds. It's a bit traditional for my tastes, but that's just me being pretentious. :D

I like the composition and the obviously very low angle the photo was taken from.

Cool ... minor shame the ball looks dead on but the grass looks a bit oversharpened. I'd maybe back off a bit on the USm myself but personal choice. Nice DOF and I get the feel of the shot.

The alignment of the stitching points the viewer to the scoreboard in the background. Nice.

Again, nice DOF and composition, I really like it.
Maybe it's my eyes (I'm tired) but does the ball look a little flattened? Would a little reflected light on the right side of it help with this?

Very nice. It would be great to have a player in the background. Ah baseball season again, tell me about it, my son has practice 3 times a week. Sigh......

Nice. Like said above it captures the image of summer for me. Look forward to getting my copy of the Bryan Peterson book :)

I must say that some of this was accidental. I didn't even think about the orientation of the ball other than trying to get it not to sink so far into the grass and to move it to where I could get a decent shot of the score board with the lighting coming from the side. My first shots were just of the ball and from a slightly higher perspective but they were lacking something with just the trees in the background.

Just a glance at this one and I knew exactly what it was about. I spent the rest of the time enjoying your perspective...very enjoyable photo joe.
