ok, I just got my 10d back from the service center, it took only 4 days! Now they said that they adjusted the focus. Still if I zoom in on somthing within the focus point that was in foucus it seems soft. But I yhink it may be just me as this is my firs camera. So I am wondering if anyone out there can help by;

1) taking a shot with just the center focus point active with your best lens, and let me know if you think your shot is sharp

2)crop the shot to just the area within the focus point

thanks, your help is much appritiated, Ian.

i use 70-200/2.8 + 10D and yes pics with they are sharp

but globally i think pics from the 10D do look softer than Velvia or Provia pics after a scan.

i have no clue but i think it comes from the image processing. a simple and moderated unsharp mask under photoshop gives back the feeling of scanned film.

see this pic http://mogsplace.net/photography/tokyoAug03/CRW_0441_RT8.jpg

if required i can send you the CRW file

Here are crops from my softest lens and 3rd sharpest lens side-by-side:

Focus points were the peacock's head dead-center and right side of baby's face (parallel to sweater below the ear).
