Hi All,
Coming thick and fast at the moment, sky has been great.
OK, shooting into the sunset, meter for sky, take shot, meter for ground, take shot. Get them back home and try to merge them.
This is my first attempt at this but is it convincing ?

Is it convincing ?

Hay, that is convincing. How exactly did you do it? How do you merge two pictures together? Just curious...
Great shot though - I defintely like the third (merged) shot the best.

Good stitching. #3 is the best imho.

Hi Ian
I think you have done a good job merging the two images. As a photograph I'm not mad about it. The sky is really nice but the landscape is boring. Sorry. There is an annoying piece of blurred grass (I think?) bottom middle. I'd get rid of this. One more thing is that the picture slopes to the left.
Hope you don't mind my honest critique? :)
best regards
Martin.

Thanks everyone.

As I've said before, I like good honest, straightforward critque. If you beat around the bush and don't say what you think, the meaning can be misinterpreted, especailly via a forum. :)
I agree, as a picture, it isn't anything special but was an exercise in merging.

It was done following the suggestion made by Roger Cavanagh in this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17869). I.e. one image is overlayed on top of the other in PaintShop (Photoshop etc.) and parts of the top layer are erased or made more transparant so you get bits of both images. In the image I've done the "exposed for sky" shot was overlayed on the "exposed for ground" shot. Then I erased the parts of the "exposed for sky" shot that showed the ground. This way the ground on the "exposed for ground" shot showed through. Hope that makes sense.
After that I did the usual boosting of saturation and contrast.
Cheers
Ian
