Couldn't change header

I was modifying the header.php under the EE main directory to change the links on the top header menu, and it seems no effect.

Did I change the wrong file?

go to your misc settings, and copy and paste the html data you want for your header into the header section under misc settings. Worked for me. for some reason the B2 isn't reading from the header.php file

Maybe I forgot to mention this, but header and footer in language folders OVERRRIDE header and footer in root directory. And header and footer in misc settings override ALL.

So, delete header in languages/eng if you want to use header.php from gallery root in old-fashioned way for english language.
