I find it quite fascinating. I am more self-conscious/fearful of taking pics of live people in public than of gravestones/monuments. There are some amazing "monuments" and that is what I was really shooting. I may post some later in a different thread.

I love taking pictures in cemeteries. As I walk though them I just imagine all the history that is around me and what each headstone represents in the way of accomplishments, stories and history. If you do take some pictues of headstones, think about posting them on a headstone photo site so Genealogists can find them.

I find cemetaries fascinating. I've shot in Luxemburg, France, England and many places in the US and Canada. A few weeks ago we were in the Necropolis, one of the oldest cemetaries in Toronto, and I got quite a few good captures. I think the weirdest one was in Niagara-on-the-Lake where we walked down an avenue and found a headstone with my wife's name on it! A few goosebumps there!

I've heard of people taking an eternity to get around to it, but this is the first time I've seen someone getting aROUND to ETERNITY.

The tombs and crypts of New Orleans are wonderful photo ops. Each November 1st, All Saints Day, family members go to their family crypts to place flowers and do any routine maintenance to the crypts.
