My brand new 30D was delivered last monday. I have had a chance to shoot about 350 pictures with it, including indoor event, football, and high iso. The focus seems faster, and more precise, and the spot meter is nice to have. Iso at 1600 is a pleasure, and will come in handy this football season under the lights. Quite a jump in some respects from my 10D.

My questions, for those of you with more time with this camera, relates to the lcd viewer, and the metering. The viewer is washed out and difficult to see in bright overcast(which is what I was faced with today). Looks great indoors. Also the meter indicator seems to have wider fluctuations with each step than my 10D (if that makes sense). Just wondering if anyone else has noticed any of these issues.

The 30D LCD does seem to be slightly less bright than the 10D. However, it is viewable from a wider perspective, is larger and shows the RGB histogram. I like it, though it was a change from my 10D's.

You can change the brightness of the LCD screen - do you have it set to the brightest setting?

I find the screen a disappointment even compared to my ex 300D and 350D. As you say, hard to see in anything but ideal light and probably that is indoors. Size of it makes no odds to me, tho' some see it as a great addition. Other than that a superb camera. Not noticed any meter issues tho I never had the 10D to compare, just the other two I mentioned.

I love the big screen, it's great. Whack up the brightness in high light conditions, no problems here.
