What do folks think about the fact that the EOS-1D does not have an in-camera LCD zoom feature?

I use mine quite a bit with my PowerShot G2 to confirm fine focus while in the field. I notice that the EOS-D30 has it and so it is a mistery to me why the EOS-1D wouldn't have it.

Any thoughts?

I's marketing overpowering engineering as usual.

I used to own a Nikon 8008, great pro camera (for its time) and guess what? It had no pc thread. A friend of mine bought a Nikon N9O, another great pro workhorse and guess what ? It had no multiple exposure feature without a rather expensive multifunction back.

Banding, moire and everything else aside the The 1D is a great high speed digital camera (actually the best), but Canon had to save some features, such as 100 % zoom LCD review, low ISO without shadow detail compromises or Canon's higher pixel count CMOS sensor for the ULTIMATE digital studio slr (not the rumored D60 if you ask me), which in turn will compromise in speed...

So it's business as usual.

I think they just plain ran out of space in Firmware. It was low on the list as unless you get at least 5x zoom it really will not give enough info. I would have liked to see it but found the 3x on the D30 not terribly useful.

Haven't missed it so far with my 1D.
