I went to an air show yesterday at Hill Air Force Base in Utah and wanted to share some of the images.

I used both of my cameras (the 5D and 20D) in order to handle both long and wide shots at the same time. For the long shots, I used the 20D ( 1.6x crop factor) with the Canon 300mm 2.8L lens plus the Canon 2x II extender, for a combined focal length of 960mm!!! And for the wide shots, I used the 5D (no crop factor) with the tiny (by comparison) Canon 70-200mm lens, which felt positively "wide angle" compared to what the 20D was shooting.

There sure were a lot of people running around with that 70-200mm lens though... I woulda just been "one of the crowd" without that Bad Boy 300mm lens on my 20D! hehe :-)

Anyway, take a look at the pictures below (click to get a larger view) ... or visit my website (http://www.dterryphotography.com/Hill%20AFB%20Air%20Show%202006)to see lots more!

I saw your pictures and thought - wow, those look a lot like what I was getting! Then I looked and saw that you're from Salt Lake too. Great show, huh?!? :-)

Oh man... that show gave me chills. When the F-22's took off, it jar'd and rattled my bones. It was awesome!

I think you weren't too far from me. A little bit more south from where I was.

Looks like Sean tucker is back in business(the Oracle plane). He was unable to perform at the Andrews show in the Oracle plane because he had to bail out of it not to long ago. I think that may be a new one. I don't know the whole story but that is what they said over the loud speaker. He is a remarkable pilot. Nice PICs.

I've got a picture of him snagging the line they held up between the poles too. The timing isn't perfect and it's a little hard to see at this size, but this is the where he flew between the poles:
