S230 purchased less than a year. The battery and memory card in perfect condition. One day, Power on and nothing works.
I sent the camera back to repair and return back with explaination of water damage, unrepairable. Totally outrage by their excuse because the camera has never gotten wet. Could anyone give me some suggestions on this problem?

Sad to hear your camera died.:(
The camera circuit board got wet by some liquid getting in through the covers. This could be an undetected bit of water on a table when the camera was placed on the table. It could be a wet cloth resting against the camera. It could be some water spilt on the closed case, and it seeped in. It could have been aunt Julie throwing ice cubes at uncle Harold.
Irregardless, the circuit board(s) are toasted, and worthless, so you can open up the camera and see it for yourself.
The damage may be easy to find, or it may be tough to find. Look for white or green residue around some components on the flex boards. Likely near the seams of the camera case where it leaked in. If one board is damaged, another may have damage too (even though it currently works) and may fail later on. Be ultra careful though, as the flash capacitor carries a hefty voltage!
You may want to look for a replacement that is waterproof against splashes (Olympus makes at least one.)

I had left s230 in the car during a really hot summer day. Needless to say, that he CCD melted and the camera was pretty much shot. Canon pretty much said tough luck, go pound sand. Thank god for Best Buy warranty replacement plans.

That's some 'warranty' where they will replace equipment that have been subject to abuse, misuse or accidental damage. How long is the "warranty" for before you can't replace your gear anymore? I suppose there's a lot of "oops I dropped my camera" claims the week before it runs out.

I dropped my 230 on a brick floor from about 4 feet. It bounced nicely, shows no abrasions or dings, and works perfectly. If that's the way it's going to be, what's the good of dropping it?
