Ok, so Wendesday is the big day. I am not taking any of the formals or any set up photos, but I was hoping still for some more help.

I will be taking picture from 8pm until midnight at the Stratosphere Resturant. I haven't yet been there, but I will assume it is dark because it is all windows so there won't be a ton of lighting. Any tips? I have a flash but my best lens is the 50mm and I hate not being able to zoom in.

These are a list of shots I know I NEED to get, can you think of any others that are good to try for? She wants more of a snapshot album then a set up posed one.

First Dance
Father Daughter dance
cutting the cake
Arriving
Speeches
kissing
boquet toss/ garder toss
wedding party table
cake before being cut

Any suggestions are great. Thanks so much

The big help needed is lighting situation, should i go AV or TV. And how do I set the flash, I am still new with it. For now I just put it to on. Thanks

I think you should shoot on manual mode. There are a few options:
Option 1) Work out an exposure that gets you some ambient light, even if the background comes out a stop or so underexposed that's fine. For example I might shoot on M at ISO1600, F2, 1/50th. The flash will expose the foreground, the ambient light will expose the background.
Option 2) Bounce the flash off the roof, extend the 580's white card, and it'll get the whole room with the main subject a little brighter because of the card. For this I might choose ISO800, F3.2, 1/50th.
Option 3) ISO1600, F1.4-F1.8, 1/50th, no flash.

You should practice ALL of these options beforehand, in your own home, with varying light levels, to see what happens :)

I completely forgot about changing the ISO. Since I started using a digital camera, I always forget that option mid shoot. I will have to see what you mean about the flash card, I just got it and am not familat with it just yet. What program would you suggest for nois when upping the ISO?

Problems with noise- use noise ninja
Generally with these type of shots the B&G don't blow up these type of images so noise isn't a huge problem because all the shots will probably stay as 4x6" :)

I have noise ninja pro but I don't usually bother with it, I prefer to print with what little noise the camera makes and live with it. I only use it very occasionally for very large prints, even then not always, because there is information being lost during noise reduction. It's probably going to be almost invisible if printed 8x12" or smaller.
