Well,
I just got back from a 10 day to Jamaica and have viewed the preliminary results from the trip. 15.7gig of images on the picture pad this time, which included two contests, a model shoot and the usual touristy stuff.

Lenses:
Most used 28-70/2.8, second most 28-135 IS.
most glad I brought 70-200/2.8 IS.
least used 100-400 IS.

I discovered that I was really glad I bought the 70-200/2.8 IS a few weeks before traveling, I got the best pictures of the contests with this lens (and it attracted attention). Compared to last year, the shots were bright enough that most were at ISO 100 or 200 with a good centered histogram. The 70-200 IS allowed me to stay out of the way, but still get both full body as well as close-up shots. On all but one occasion I used the 28-70/2.8 when I needed to be a bit closer, the one occasion was when the humidity was abit high, with the room a bit cold so when I stepped outside it would fog up immeadiately. I discovered the plastic 28-135 IS cleared up faster then the metal 28-70. (of note: the 28-70 took longer then my 70-200 to defog as well).

I never once pulled the 100-400 or the extenders out of the bag, kind of a waste of weight, but I don't regret bringing them because if the weather had been different on one particular day they it would have been handy for a few shots.

I only pulled the 16-35 out three times, always when I needed an even wider angle then the 28-70 would give me.

I only pulled the 50/1.4 out once, since the 550EX flash was working great and I did not have to go flashless during the competitions.

As to the 550EX flashes, very glad I had both and with the Kodak 3xpower AA batteries they kept up with my shooting speed usually. I love these batteries, which met the advertising of being designed for digital cameras.

My 10D performed outstanding in a light rain (along with the flashes). Of course the only day it rained was the one day I had for the model shoot. At least I had he first half sunny.

My Delkin Picture Pad worked great as usual, although this time with the AA battery pack I did not get pissed off when the on-board battery went low fast.

Lots of fun and I was tough on both my cameras. I mainly did short tourist trips with D60 and 28-135/75-300 IS and photo shoot type activities with 10D and 16-35/28-70/70-200 as primary lenses. was glad I packed both as being able to travel light was important.

Only problem was forgetting to completely clear off one of the CF cards and having the file numbers change on the D60. This caused me to create two storage files on my computer when I got home.

Did I mention I love this camera and having the right equipment makes huge difference. I am happy with my lens kit now, based on prelimary results from trip.

Have fun.
