After looking at the macro section, and playing a bit with my cheepie telephoto and closeups I have come to the following conclusions:
1) My lens has zero contrast wide open at close range. Maybe its the combo of the lens and the closeup "filter" doing it.
2) I'm guessing flash is almost a necessity. The good news is I'm expecting a flash to be delievered any day now and the onboard one does work for now, which is amazing, as the lens is rather long when at full tele and focused as close as possible.
Once I get a "real" flash, any macro tips? I didn't spring for a ring flash, I wanted to spend my money on a general purpose one.
3) Will I see the same artifacts with a reversed lens stacked on the telephoto? Or is the abberations I'm seeing (really low contrast, very bad spherical and chromatic abberation) due to the closeup?
