Please excuse my ignorance I do not know what type of bird this is. I thought it looked like a great subject.

You got yourself a killdeer!

hi, great shots, good details and colours.
its very difficult too get anywhere near these birds.. they always seem too fly whenever i get close enough for a picture ,
Bird ID, its very similar too a british/european " ringed plover ", however i dont think they have a red eye circle.. sorry i cant help more.

Marc is right...you photographed a Killdeer here. I like the second shot, it looks like it is about to do its famous broken wing display...did it?

After reading up on the killdeer, I figured I got lucky because its nest was near and it was trying to lure me away.

Very good shots of the Killdeer. Love the behaviour shots and it's a nice bonus to see the eggs as well. My favorite though is the third shot of the original three. Beautiful low angle shot. :-)

All nice shots Mike, good and sharp plus love the action. The one thing I would try to do is get the light over your shoulder to light up the eye (grab the catch-light). Just a suggestion.

Thank you.
Good idea,
Also, I think I am going to try out the BB Extender for my 580ex. I have seen alot of great shots with this combo.
