Killdeer Chick and Worried Mom

While walking along a shore a couple of days ago, I came across 4 young Killdeer chicks......the one below decided it was smart to try to hide and not follow the lead of his/her siblings who were running. The youngster blends in with the rocks pretty well.

Mom (or Dad) in typical Killdear fashion, tried to draw me away by pretending to have a broken wing (this photo has been cropped and I could not do better with only my 3X zoom).

nice, I have some of almost the exact same shots. Momma ran off squaking and playing the broke wing trick as well. Pretty ingenious really. I had never experienced that until recently.
