View Full Version : POTN G-series Speed Challenge 71 - Daily Routine

Challenge 71 - Daily Routine My winning pic was from a series I started (but unfortunately haven't continued) of the view from my car on the way to my office every day and how it alters according to the light conditions at the time.
What I would like to see from you is a photo capturing some aspect of your own daily routine - a bit of a photo journalism if you will - pick whichever part of your regular day you can capture, be it a scenic view from your car or a mundane trip to your mailbox - good luck.

Thanks to everyone for their excellent variety of very interesting photos. Have had a difficult time sorting a top three but finally here's my picks

1st 3Dart 9.30am

2nd Reed Goodwin Summer Indulgence

3rd G6canon Rock a bye baby

KCJewel One sail done
Your day looks like it would be more fun than mine. Do you also get to test fly them all. Interesting image.

G6canon Rock a bye baby
Nice photo. It tells the story, can just imagine the dog runing around chasing the ball till its finally puffed out.

Boutty untitled
I like old photos buildings and love weathered fence post and wire. Hope your routine dosn't include the cutting of this grass.

Reed Goodwin Summer Indulgence
This is also part of my daily routine, but inside as its winter here. Photo has a lovely relaxed feel. Selective colour use works well. maybe image overall lacks a bit of contrast but i like it a lot.

Midgimoo Farmer stackhouse
Nice pic of a great tractor. Very magestic. Hope you havn't suffered to greatly from the recent snows we've had lately.

3Dart 9.30am
This photo made me laugh when I first saw it. Very good capture, the b/w tones are great. Kept coming back to this one - must be a male thing!

grandadraymond Ready for launching
Congratulations on finishing what looks like must have been a routine for a long long time - looks great. Have you worked on the real size tugs?

addrewaaa5
Note: Adrewaaa5 asked not to be considered for honors as he's lucky enough to be away on holiday.
Interesting coloration used - is this to show how you feel in the mornings. I'd head back to bed if I saw such a yellow/green sight early in the morning. Great capture of an awkward closeup view.

Teekay Winter morning
Wow thats some snow. Hope it dosn't require shovelling evey day - must be a lot of work. Nice pic of a difficult subject.

Marie Today Sat 17th
Nice romantic appeal to this image with its subject matter and soft glow. Very nice.

Rpolitsr Daily lunch
With fans like these how could your team go wrong. Nice fun capture.

Bottom Bracket The morning comute
Nice gritty pic of urban transport travel - well suited to its monotone treatment.

Terrywoodenpic Waiting again
Interesting view of small town living - I can certainly relate to traffic holdups due to road works. Good photo with plenty of points of interest. Like how the small areas of colourful fowers and bright ballons balance on either edge of photo with larger red sign in middle.

gkuenning Morning paper
Liked the concept behind this photo. I also start every day like this but I feel the amount of dark areas dominates the photo to much - on my moniter anyway.

_OC_ To walk at leisure
This is a routine I could cope with. Pity a touch of interesting clouds whern't around at the time to breack up all that blue sky but the sun looks great with it's halo and 12 point glow.

gewb Windmill passed twice a day
Beautiful rural sunset. Magic sky colours and windmill sillohette. Would proberly cropped more from foreground myself but a very appealing photo.

Stephen Martin Preparation
Good colourful image but I don't find the shape created by the person with his back to the camera very pleasing but I do like the effect of the yellow flares coming from their heads.

Congrats to all the entrants, and especially to the winners. I, too, loved "9:30 AM". I was scrolling down to post my own pic and just burst into laughter. Our hobbies, indulgences, and walks may occasionally fall by the wayside, but that one is truly daily.

Thank you George7 for an interesting topic with many beautiful entries.

Congratulations to 3Dart, Reed Goodwin, and G6canon

I think that pictures shot by others frequently describe aspects of my own life. Daily routines beautifully described some of them and highlighted a few others that are not but I would like they were. (Please try to understand my English  ).

Snow is limited to the taller mountain tops here, but leaving aside the hard work with the shovel, I like how teekay caught the beauty in his winter routine.

Public transport always is part of our life, and BottomBracket shot a strong picture describing it.

Kites and scale models building are nicely described by KC Jewel and grandadraymond. Those also were my hobbies, and I return to them when time and money allow me.

As a television engineer I was amused seeing how the stage/studio wall of Stephen Martin and the wonderful background of the windmill by gewb share the same colors.

_OC_ sea landscape kept George7 busy counting the number of rays in the sun :) . Was it the camera? A star filter? PhotoShop?

I met Chloe in other threads. She is a real actress and G6canon knows how to shot the best of her.

Concentration while reading a good book may blur the colors around the reader, and Reed Goodwin noticed that.

and 3Dart found how to shot an unavoidable routine.

George, thanks for a great theme. Congrats to the winners. I do have a nice job George, I get to test fly all of my kites and if the wind is blowing and the sun is shinning I just put out my sign, Gone Flying! John

Thanks everyone for the comments. This was also my first time. After I posted I realized that I had misread and that you didn't necessarily want a self-portrait of us doing daily activities. Oh well. It came out good in the end.

Congrats to the winner and placegetters, well done :)

Thanks for the nice comments George. Regarding the snow, we got let off lightly compared to others. We just have a massive clean up of broken pine tree limbs to take care of. Hopefully the next fall forecasted to hit us won't cause so much destruction.
Cheers

thanks Sophia.. yeah i love my camera very much. now i just need to get better at it. yeah, i took about 88 shots of chloe while she's taking a nap.. so couldn't use any flash or she'll just be upset and run away. she loves sleeping on her mommy's pillow and sleep like us.

guess what marie.. last night when I got home.. we took chloe out to our local petsmart to pick up a toy. she picked up the stuffed weiner dog called bobo; as they call it in the petsmart commercial using a doxie as well. she love that bobo so much that the clerk had to slide her through in order for the toy to scan. haha

we already have 2 at home (with the stuffing all removed by chloe) which chloe still plays with. the other day she was playing with it and ended up on her back which she walked around proudly... it was too funny. too bad i didn't get a good shot of it.

ha ha ha

I thought that so funny
scanning the dog in because she would not let go of bo bo

sounds lovely
I don't know the commercial but I once knitted a cookie monster type of teddy , stuffed it and named it bo bo.

it's in the attic

hope she does not choke on the stuffing ever
seeing as she is into ripping things apart
make sure it's all eatable
or even swallowable :lol::lol:

wow.. i hope foxy is ok? cuz chloe hates taking shots.. tablet is ok if you mix it with her favorite food.. boiled and shreded chicken breast with rice.

she use to eat the stuffing and even tried to eat it until we kept telling her "NO" and then taking her toy away from her. then she learned not to eat the stuffing.
