Hi I would like to know if I need the driver for window XP
to download my photo from my powershot s50 insted of using window driver the driver isWIA600

You don't need any driver. You have only to set your connection mode in the camera to PTP, connect the camera to he USB port and that's all: XP recognize your camera, which will appear in explorer like another hard drive.

The S50 doesn't have a PTP mode that you can turn off/on like the S45, S230, and G3. It does it automatically. The only problem that you have in PTP mode without the WIA driver is that you can't use a lot of image transfer software without it.

Pierre,
My question is what software are you using with your photos? Are you using Canon's ZoomBrowser to download the photos from your camera, or are you using something else. If something else, what?
Because, you only need the driver if you are using certain software packages. Others have their own drivers or don't need drivers because the program handles the photos in other ways.
