I've been very happy with the Sandisk products. I do primarily wedding work and shoot in RAW so I need substantial storage.
I currently own three of their 2GB Ultra II CF cards and have been very pleased so far. The Extreme III is "technically" faster, but for me that's a non-issue and not worth the extra money. Normally you can find my 2GB cards on sale for around $79 - 86; Amazon is a good supplier.
Go to http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/index.asp for a lot of super info on memory cards, and numerous related issues. Rob Galbraith does an excellent job of explaining basic concepts and giving good solid advice.

What sort of shooting do you do the most? If it involves a lot of sports, you may want to consider a faster card. For landscapes and fine art - speed is not critical.
For some reason - can't recall here - there have been some issues with some Canons and Lexar cards. There are actually only 3 main vendors of cards I believe, with these main suppliers providing a variety of "house" brands. Sandisk has an excellent rep and a well designed card controller.
