View Full Version : How many batteries do you own?

I am curious as to how many batteries you carry around in your camera bag. I currently own 2 for my XT and I have almost never used the second one. I can fill my 2gb memory card before a single battery shows that its low, and I have shot nearly all day at an outdoor concert on a single battery.

Nonetheless, I just ordered a 3rd since I ordered another 1gb memory card as well. I think 3 batteries will hold me over for now. If you have a lot of batteries, is it because you sometimes shoot for extended periods (matter of days?) without access to a charger?

5, I have a 20D and a 10D. Have 2 from the original purchase, a Maxell, 2 Sterlingteks. Love the Sterlingtek because they last far longer than the others. I carry 2 spare at all times.

I have 4 batteries,1-1 gb ultra II and 2-2 gb ultra II. Ive never paid attention to how often I have to charge. I had 3 batteries but got 1 more as I have a grip. Was kind of a pain when grip died and I had to put the batt cover back on for the 3rd battery.

3 for my 20D
2 for my P&S
and 1 for my dream camera that I don't even own yet LOL :D

It's better to have extra and not need them than not have enough juice to do the job and miss out on critical shots.

Three factory originals, and I think 4 aftermarket ones. Gotta replace the aftermarket ones though. I think they've had it.

three, one of them dead

one OEM and two other. I've got to replace both of them, cause it's been 2+ years of use.

Those of you with 5+, what made you feel the need to have so many and do you use them all regularly?

I have 6 camera batteries, 3 came with the cameras, bought 1 oem and have 2 after market - I like the spares as just-in-case - been glad I had them a few times (camping and no place to charge - forgot inverter) I also carry several sets of AA's for flash and S2

I have 5 for my camera. I have a battery grip so use 2 at a time. They are so cheap these days that its worth it to have a few extra. Better to be safe.

4 of the 1 series batteries. thats about 3500-6000 shots depending on review, IS etc. used them all up in a week last summer when I didn't know if I'd have power to recharge or not

4 total.. 3 Sterlingtek and one OEM. Two sets for the 20D's grip.

I have yet to run out of battery power, though I have had to change batteries in a session.

The original and 4 sterlingteks. Use two at a time in my grip.

2 OEM for the MkII (this will last a full weekend of shooting)

and about 6 BP511.

The 10D was not as economic with it's power consumption so I had amassed quite a few. With the 20D I need them much less,. but the old IR D60 still drinks 'em down like an ice cold coke.

2 Canon, 2 Sterlingtek, both sets for the 20D battery grip. I've used both sets several times, and I have ordered one more set. I have owned this 20D for 3 months and have just passed 10,000 frames this past weekend, the batteries get quite a workout. I recharge all batteries after each job, and I keep a AA and a bp-511 charger in the car for in-between job recharges.

I have four:
2x Canon
2x Black Diamonds

I've only needed two so far, but I'm sure there will come a time when I'll need all four. I'm planning on a trip to Africa by the end of the year. Which translates into photo safari. Just a piece of mind knowing that I will always have a fresh pair of batteries when I'm not certain I'll be able to access a reliable power source. ;)

I just bought two Sterlingtek, so that makes three for me. For the price, it was a no-brainer for me. $32 US shipped to Canada, no customs. Why not??

I have ten. Just bought six Sterlingteks, got the three extra just for free shipping.
I was never too concerned about batteries until I got the 70-200 IS. The IS on that lens can burn down a battery very quickly!

I have 4 in total - 1 original Canon and 3 'other' ones. I think one of the cheepies is on the way out though - It doesn't last as long as the others (I put a red mark on it to test this theory!)
I've only had to swap batteries a couple of times, in cold weather when shooting horse events outdoors.

Just three. All Canon. Thing is, though, I'm still on my first one since I got my 30D. Yeah...it lasts that long.

I have a battery pack and bought 4 for that plus the one that came with the camera. Back-up is the AA adapter for the battery pack. Had only to swap out the NI's during astrphotography after shooting in the desert all day. Never used the AA pack yet. Always good to have extras since you never know when the battery will fail and not hold a charge.

I have a Canon 20D and a battery grip. I have two batteries in the grip and they seem to last forever. For me, I can't imagine needing more than what I already have at this point. I charged my batteries a month ago and then used the camera periodically around the farm, but just for a shot or two here or there. I used the camera intensely last night and I am now only down about a third on the charge. I suppose if I used my camera for hours daily, I would consider extra batteries, but at this point, I don't think it is really necessary.

I have 5 batteries for my dRebel. 1 OEM and 4 generic. I also have something like 20 AA rechargables for my p&s and 420 flash. Memory: 2 - 2gb and 3 - 1gb compact flash and innumerable smaller cards.

Yeah, I had 6 for my rebel xt. I would use 2-4 in a days worth of shooting.

My 30d is blowing me away. Im in the 5000s on filename, so that means I believe I've taken 4000 shots (it starts at 1000 I think). I have NEVER recharged the batteries since day one, and they're not half down yet. I do use a battery grip and two batteries.

I have 6 batteries (2 BP-511, 2-BP-511a, and 2 Sterlingtek) for my 20D and D30....4 in the grips and two spares on charge. 3 Batteries for the 1D (1-OEM, 1-Lenmar and 1-2200mah Brand X for review for a consumer panel)

I have 6 total, 2 from the 10D, 2 from the 20D, 2 from 5D and one from G6 (all OEM), but since the 10D doesnt see much action, the 10D batteries travel with the 5D.
