Should I buy a lens, or another camera?

Hello All,
I have a dilemma, I am doing quite a bit of business travel through Europe and South Africa within the next few weeks and I am trying to decide if I want to take my D30 and buy a single lens, or buy something like a G2, Coolpix 5000, or maybe even an S40. Has anyone faced a similar dilemma? Any advice? Thanks!!

What lenses have you already got for your baby?

How much do you want to spend?

What kind of subjects do you expect to shoot?

Will you always be taking your D30 wherever you go?

Having asked those questions... I also own a Digital Ixus/Elph. The big advantage of this is that it fits into my top pocket, is very light and is a nifty looking piece of kit. So I take it where it would not be sensible to carry the D30 beast (parties, bars, etc.). It does mean sometimes the camera is not up to the job at hand.

So if I were you, I would only buy a small, lightweight digicam to be carried instead of the D30. Rather than buy a more substantial camera, I would think about taking the D30, but leave off the battery grip and take one "multi-purpose" lens of _good_ quality, but moderate weight. I don't mean for the entire trip, just for specific outings.

But, hey, who says these options are all mutually exclusive? :)

Thanks for the reply...I have an older Tamron 28-200 that I used primarily with my elan II, a Canon 100-400 IS, and a Canon 20-35. I feel like you do, I don't think it is practical to carry along the D30 since my trips are primarily business. I went out and tried a number of small cameras today, I narrowed the choice to the G2, S40, and the Coolpix 5000.

I have been in the same situation.

I have a Digital Ixus, a S90 PRO and D30.

so i went for the Powershot S90 Pro due too the fact that it has:
1. IS (used from my 28-135 IS and 100 - 400 L IS)
2. Takes the same battery
3. Takes the same CF disks (have 3 1GB + several CF ranging 96mb - 128MB)

So, when I travel, Ii take the S90 PRO
