i have a 350d and a opteka battery grip. it's worked perfectly since i've gotten it, which has been about two months. today my camera just started acting weird while i was shooting, the wheel wouldn't respond, then the menu buttons stopped working. i couldn't figure out what the problem was so i figured maybe i needed a recharge of batteries. after recharging both of my batteries i found that the camera would turn on and take pictures. the upper lcd worked but none of the menu buttons would respond. i then tried taking off the battery pack and found the camera worked perfectly. i don't have a clue what the problem is. the battery pack is as tight as it can be, the camera turns on when it's there but it just doesn't work properly. has anyone ever encountered this before? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

try checking the pins on the part of the grip that inserts into the camera. Maybe one of them or more is not fully making contact with their respective mates in the camera.

A classmate of mine was having a similar issue with his battery grip (which was a Canon grip on a 10D). If all the connections seem to be accurate, one thing would be to possibly take it to a camera tech and have them look it over. If you have had the grip for less than a year, I believe it should also be covered by Opteka's 1-year warrantee. Their customer service and tech department can be reached at: Support@opteka.com. Good luck.
