There is a dealer on E-bay offering a EOS 1Ds for $3350 about 1/2 the list price. When I emailed and inquired how he could sell so cheap he said his father was a manager at Canon. Sounds fishy to me. Any thoughts? If it sounds too good to be true........

There is a BIG problem with scams on ebay now and in the past with high-end cameras. I contacted one "great deal" and was told his name and password was hacked. Actually, I have had several people try to get my info by requesting my screen name and password with any number of stories. EBAY does not email you requesting passwords!!!!!! Maybe that might be the source of some of the profiles they, the ( scammers) use. A $6000 camera selling for $2000 with a history of only buying baby items ????? One of the tip-offs is paying with Western Union. Not the only one but one used a lot. DON'T DO IT.

My parents fell for it earlier this year. If your account has excellent feedback, then they definately want to steal it so they can host BS auctions. Guess what my parents ended up selling on their account? High-end DSLRs. I wasn't too suprised when I knew their account had been taken over.

Yes, it is most definitely a scam!

I bid on a 10D and all of a sudden I kept getting these "offers" from people offerring to sell one to me less than my bid. ALL with horrible grammar. A few of them were worded exactly the same just from different users.

Some examples of the bad grammar told me I could "probe the cammera" for 10 days", another said it was an "offer I could refuse" - (ha little did they know their mistake was right!!)

I reported them to eBay and yes, most were from acconts that were hacked into.

Beware those deals that are too good to be true! Most will be scams. I'm still waiting on my lens from Dell...I did get a telephone call telling me they changed my ship date from October 3rd to Nov. 14th)

Smiles,

Holly
