My G6 will not go into Av Mode. Instead, when I set the dial to Av then display shows up as M mode. I have tried the full reset procedure and have removed the battery pack and the date battery, but this has not fixed this problem. Ha anyone run into this problem before? Is there a known fix or workaround that I can use to restore the Av mode?

Thanks, Spence

Found out that this is part of the old problem which Canon acknowledges occurs on some G6s when Custom settings are used for the first time. The mode dial gets stuck in some functions and cannot be reset without sending the camera in for service. Since I'm out of warranty, I can either pay for the repair (mininum $139 sans parts) or opt to upgrade to a refurbed Pro1 or an S2. I'm sort of disappointed in Canon because this is a problem they were aware of well over a year ago and did not send any notification of possible buggy units that were sold. Oh well, I'll stew for a while before I decide what to do.

That seems rather tough on Canons part.
I do not see a pro1 or s2 as an upgrade.
I am sure in the UK, the small claims court would say that the fault was with the camera on purchase. and it would be up to Canon to make restitution.
