Does anyone have comments about this lens. I am very interested in it but need hands on experience advice. I'm looking for bird and wildlife lens with the 10d 1.6x magnification. I'm not convinced by any Canon 75-300 mm zoom and the 100-400 L is very expensive and calls for too much antentionf for me.

I'll give you 2 suggestions.

1) If you have not already, visit (or live like I do) here:

Someone just posted a gallery of zoo photos that they took with this lens on a 10D. It's a heavy lens so be prepared to work out for your photos:

Hope this helps,

I have the Sigma 100-300 f4 and really like the lens. The only disadvantage is it is a heavy lens and I use it mostly on a tripod. Here is a link to some pictures I have taken and I believe I used a 1.4x teleconverter on all of them. The lens is sharp, but the DOF is very shallow. http://www.picturecd.com/system/login.cgi?username=bfphoto&album=22580

I think for the price, it is a very good lens.
