Congrats Conor and welcome to the wonderful world of dSLR. You'll love the 10D and all it has to offer. It will be a camera you will be able to enjoy for years to come. I also have the 28-135IS and it's a sweet everyday lens.

Conor,
As everyone else has welcomed you, so will I as a 10D owner as well. I if you haven't noticed already, you can get some stunning results w/ it! I would like to refer you to one particular bit of this website, to a pic I took.
Call it a plug or whatever you like, but here it is:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17348 and scroll till you see the 2 pics. I would like to place emphasis on the moon pic and the terminator, especially! That was a Sigma 120-300 F2.8 EX/HSM/Etc lens. I can make only one recommendation, do not skimp on the glass as it will show! If only I had kept the cheapie 70-300mm lens I could show you the difference. No worries. Put it this way, I'm so impressed by the difference I've seen so far, I got me a 16-35mm Canon L lens for wide angle shots. This hobby is really starting to take a real bite out of what I make, but heck it's only money. Anyway, it's getting on in the morning, 0435 Local and time for me to sort some other bits.

Cheers from England,
Canuck

I would say 'welcome to the fraternity,' but we have many active and talented women who also contribute to to board. So, I'll just say 'welcome,' and leave it at that.

You're fortunate to have found the best place on the internet for sharing ideas and learning about your new camera. There are some extremely knowledgeable people here who share their expertise freely. You'll recognize some of the names as time goes by, and you will be well-served by paying close attention to what they say.

I look forward to hearing what you have to say in the months/years to come.

Welcome aboard.

They say time is money, so there is a lot of value here because so many of the members of this board are very experienced digital photographers and they are very willing to share their time (=$) by sharing their thoughts and experiences here. I got a 10D two months ago and joined this board at the same time. I have gotten SO MUCH info from this board. And not by posting a bunch of questions but just by reading posts and their threads. Good luck!!
