Which Flash?

I'm looking at getting either the 10D or the 300D (probably the 300D) soon, and I'm going to need a flash. Can you recommned one? Keep in mind that the main reason I'll be getting the 300D and not the 10D is due to financial limitations (I'm a uni student with a part time job), so I'm not looking at spending a great deal on a flash........Because of that, I might have to look at a flash other than a canon brand one........Can you suggest any? What's the advantage of getting a canon brand flash over, say, SunPak, or something like that? What should I look for when buying a flash?
