hm, lens isn't that bad. i think it just needs to be used more in areas that have alot of light.

Here is one taken with my Rebel XT and the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. It isn't a great lens but I often keep it in the trunk of the car as I don't like getting caught without a telephoto. At least the lens is very light and compact. With this lens, the more I stop down the better and I use DxO Optics Pro lens corrections to tame the chromatic aberration, purple fringing, distortion, and sharpness issues.

I had gone for a walk and put the lens on the camera and I suddenly saw this owl fly up from the shrubbery along the path.

300mm, 1/800s, f/10, ISO 200, lens hood, Hoya UV filter.

Thank you! I like it too. I held the shutter release down so there is a sequence of these. This was my favourite of the set because the owl looked like it was glaring at me.

I have so many shots from this lens that i would be happy to share.. mostly animals. My 2nd lens and the one i used 95% of the time over the 28-135mm at zoos for shooting animals. I just loved loved LOVED this lens starting out learning photography and i highly reccomend it as a low budget super telephoto lens on ANY canon camera. I used this on my 40D for the below images:

I have totally forgotten about this lens until the photowalk scheduled this afternoon. Although the 50mm and 100mm are really good, I needed a versatile one, so out it goes from the shelf. I tried some shots and found them to be decent. I think I have unjustly judged this lens.
