Greetings,
Why do pictures in Photoshop look very saturated in color, but when viewed on the web or in iPhoto, the color looks very flat?
I have Photoshop RGB set to Adobe 1998, and my 10D set to Adobe 1998.
What am I doing wrong?
(Aside from this, my prints are turning out way too dark on my HP 5550, but I guess that is another post.)
Thanks,
Rob

I cannot speak to IPhoto (I switched to Iview MediaPro long ago), but as for the web, most browsers use a restricted color gamut. If you use Photoshop, be sure to set the color space to sRGB before saving for the web. Also, you can preview the picture in ImageReady to see what it will look like on the web.

Sounds like you are on a Mac?
In Photoshop, when you Save-for-Web, if you select the checkbox for embed image with (the Adobe RGB) ICC profile, then if someone opens it with an ICC aware application (such as Photoshop), it should look similar to what you see in Photoshop with Adobe RGB.
Otherwise, when you Save-for-Web, by default the image is output in a color space suitable for web viewing, and in a browser such as IE5, it looks lighter, and much less saturated (especially on a Mac with a gamma of 1.8). If you were to view that same web image in IE on a PC (gamma of 2.0), it will look darker and typically more saturated than on the Mac, but it will still not be Adobe RGB.
