I like to buy a screen protector my new Canon G6.
My LCD looks fine but I always see my fingerprints in it. So I'm planning to buy a screen protector at shieldzone (www.shieldzone.com (http://www.shieldzone.com)). Do you think it's worth it?
The screen on top of my camera that shows how many shots that are remaining is a little bit scratched though. I don't know if it's a good idea if I use just a regular scotch tape so that it won't be removed easily.
Thanks.

Screen protectors against fingerprints aren't worth it - you'll get just as many fingerprints on the protector and they'll be harder to clean off. In addition, the protector will slightly degrade your view of the screen. So they're generally a "lose-lose" situation.

The G3 has the ultimate screen protecter - the ability to flip it and hide it away.
I had a screen protecter on my G5 for a while when it was new and over-protected. But as Jon said, it gives a degraded view and you still have the problem of fingerprints. That and it starts to peel.
After two years of heavy abuse the screen is still fine on my G5.

I definately wouldn't use scotch tape on your info screen. As far as protecting your lcd, I wouldn't worry about it. A protector will degrade an already marginal image, and as far as fingerprints are concerned, a fingerprint on the lcd or one on the protector you still have a smudge. The best thing you can do to protect a G series lcd is to fold it in.

I agree with the above posts. I used a PDA screen protector cut to size, and promptly junked it. The LCD screen is pretty tough and easy to clean, you shouldn't have a problem with it
