Hi all,
Visited here a few times in the dim and distant past when I first got my G3.
Back again!
I had this (perhaps nieve) idea that the price of the converter lenses would come down over time but they still seem very expensive considering the age of the camera.
Am I just looking in the wrong place?
Any advice gratefully received ....

No, you're correct. Their prices just don't seem to come down. Seems people buy them and like them too much to sell them / there weren't too many sold.

well.. if you're looking for the teleconverter lense.. u can buy it from amazon.com. but be sure to buy it directly from amazon.com for this to work.
what you do is buy it directly from here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00007LI9D/002-2420088-9169617?v=glance&n=502394
then get apply for an amazon credit card.. then you final price will be $69.94 for a brand new tele. then afterwards you can cancel the card after you get the product. I got mine from amazon and it was the lowest price for a brand new one.
good luck~
P.S. make sure you have an lens adapter for it. Otherwise, you can get it at lensmate online.

Thanks for the tips. I beleive there are some non-Canon alternatives to the TC-DC58N.
I'd be grateful if anyone with any experience of these could let me know what they are and how much they cost.
TIA...

Have you checked this (http://www.lensmateonline.com/newsite/G5G3.html)source? Good information, top quality/value on their adaptor if you need one. They have some comparison photos of several TCs, and do sell them... although you may find better pricing on them elsewhere.

yup.. like Ross said.. lensmate online is a good place to look because they have serveral different types of samples for you to look at. i like the canon one.. cuz once you put that tele on the G6 + a 430EX flash.. make that thing is like a CANON ready to fire from a pirate ship or something.. haha :)

Again - thanks for the tips.
I've been having a look at some of the alternatives. The Tiffen lense is half the price of the Canon lense (here - http://www.thetoptens.co.uk/digicamlens_2.html).
Seems very tempting but is it as good as the Canon?
