I have Thumbsplus and am trying to learn how to use it. Can anyone help me with this question:

I'd like to store my images on CD with annotations attached (eg me at beach June 3rd 1998). Can I do this with Thumbsplus? Or do I have to alter the file name in order to achieve this? I eventually want to have a library of CD's (eg one with family shots, one with landscapes, etc) but with annotations included.

Damian,

You can certainly do this with T+. I'm sure there are several different ways to achieve the result. The simplest is probably to create a user field that you can enter your anotation:

File>Database>Edit User Fields

If you want to get more fancy you could use the IPTC data for this, so the info' is kept with the actual image file.

Offline CDs - no problem. I'm already up to 50.

What I would do is play around with a small set of pictures to get the setup the way you want. This will just save time when you change this around. T+ is great because you can add stuff, but you need to reprocess all the existing images in the database to refresh for any changes.

Another tip: EXIF and IPTC data is available in T+ without you having to do anything, but if you want to do searches, says, on lens used or aperture, then you need to create user fields for these "active variables". T+ cannot search the EXIF/IPTC directly, it copies any matching fields from the image file into the database user fields when the image is added.
