I just saw this wide angle lens on Ebay and would like to know if anyone has something similar. How exactly does it work?

It attaches to your kit lens (screwed on like a filter). Save your money and buy a real lens instead of this attachment. ;)

I had a 58mm Telephoto adapter for my old Casio QV-4000 P&S. It worked ok on my P&S so for the heck of it I put it on my kit lens.

It looks really! bad on the kit lens. I would think you are going to get the same poor results with the wide angle. Save your money and get a real wide angle lens.

Hi IndiaMB,

I have an example for you.

I had the possibility to test one out on my 50/1.4, think it was a bower titanium.

Take a look at the example (1/1600 @ f/2.0) ... no more need to buy an expensive soft focus filter
Focus was on the laptop screen, and the lens achieved focus.

Really, I never suspected it would be that bad.
It looked a bit better stopped down to f/5.6, but not really usable.

When I got my 20D, I also had the possibility to put the very good Olympus WCON-08 that I used without any loss in image quality on my G2 on my 18-55 kit lens, and at the 18 mm setting, there was just so much distortion and cromatic aberration that it was not really usable.

Best regards,
Andy

Wow. That example shot andy gives is bad!,lol
To be fair i think he may have a dud? I've heard of and seen much better results from that exact model lens.

I've used the older ones quite abit and find them definitely useable in a fun way. However don't even think about using them as some kind of quality wide angle lens allternative.

Here's an example shot -focused close to deliberately give perspective distortion.Notice the very blury edges? The newer types like the titanium should be slightly better than this.
