Well I have spent a ton of time designing a site that would in a sense beat my old site, and after countless hours at the drawing board I am done!!! The reason I chose to post it here is because you will notice it favors Canon a ton. With that said, please enjoy the site and tell me what you think....

Actually having seen your old site, I think it's a step back quality wise. I really liked your old site, it was much more professional.
The new site is gimmicky, and the music has just got to go. The photos of, I guess it's you, that pop around your gallery scream "highschool project".
I think the site takes away from your highly skilled and imaginative photography. The web site should merely be the vechicle for your images not the main attraction. You are selling images not flash programing. I think you would be better served by making the flash more subtle and giving the photography the limelight it truly deserves. Some of your images are nothing short of remarkable!
I know a little bit about design. My design work is published monthly in several magazines with publications over 100,000 copies. My packaging design is in millions of homes in the U.S. and abroad. I tell you this only to let you know I speak from some experience.
Please take this in the constructive way that it was meant.

Hey Man,
I like your site. I'm used to Thumbnail spreads so it'd be nice to opt out of the "1D GUI" to view if desired - but that GUI is a pretty neat effect (wish the thumbnail select was actually on the 1D "display" button instead of off camera through - Scrolling the thumbnails with the dial, my next thought was naturally to display the image with the display button).
*Music can be toggled off (in the upper right of page) so those who don't dig it can shut it off. Personally, I like it.
**The "Art Gallery" and effect of you looking around is pretty neat. Innovative and eye catching as well as directing you to look at the wall hangings you've created. A lot of thought and work was put into getting the perspective of that page and moving person to appear correct. I think it works very well.
(Perhaps a option to seque into a more traditional site form could be available for those who don't quite appreciate that type of work :)).
justme_dc does make some good points about directing people to your work and muting the flash a little in the process but it all depends on your overall intention and effect you're going for. Your photography is good so the concern is to not distract from it.
Done right, your website presents more of an experience than just a viewing and I think you're off to a good start with something that definitely catches the eye for a second look. At least it caught mine.
Pretty Cool IMO.
Good work

Sorry, Blair, gets a thumbs down from me. The fancy graphics just get in the way and detract and distract from the main event, which is supposed to be your pictures.
The delay as things moved around was aggravating, but I did have a download going on in the background that may have slowed things more than you designed.
Correctly, the music is optional and - at least, on my system - off by default, but I turned it on because of justme's comments. The percussion didn't create the ambiance I'd want for viewing.
My advice: remember KISS.

Interesting site, but it is just too much really.
The design has obvioulsy taken time and skill to produce, but the layout of the site takes your attention away from the images them selves.
I don't like the way you have to navigate the images, it makes it more difficult to browse all the images quickly.

I have 2 reactions Blair:
1> As a professional photographer I feel like you just should get to the point. I like the photography, but not necessarily the wrapping that comes with it.
2> I do believe that you will be able to successfully market yourself through this site to a broader clientele base. There are quite a few companies out there that will appreaciate your youthful creativity, as well as your photographic talent.
If you built the site to market yourself, I say it is a success.
