i am soon going to be in the market for an slr and would love to hear your recommendations and why. i've always kinda had my eye on the nikon d100 but am now thinking that perhaps i'd like the canon 10d.

any help is greatly appreciated. ;)

NG, Stick with the Canon, I've been a Canon owner for years SLR film and now digital, G3, I think Canon makes some of the best lenses around, There even used on other cameras, I know Casio uses a Canon Lens. I've never head a problem with Canon. Plus if you go with a Nikon we'll have to kick you off this forum :D :D . I think in the next 6 to 12 months you're going to see the prices really come down, what with Canon coming out with the 300D for under $1000, and other companies following suit.
P.S. the latest Consumer Reports Magazine just gave the G3 a great rating.....

I am of course bias, but based on my research,
If you already have an investment in lenses go with what ever you already have, if you don't (or only have one or two lenses) go with the Canon. Nikon seems to be about 18 months behind in technology and does not have the same range of lenses from what I have found. The 10D appears to be slightly better in the spec sheets. All I can say is it works great for me.

Besides those white 'L' lenses of Canon attract attention, people remember you. Personal experience from recent trip. They didn't remember me, until I mentioned I was the one with the white lens shooting, then "oh yeah, I remember seeing you". ;-)

Just my research and experience,

Hi longwatcher - thank you for taking the time to answer my question. i am a researcher when it comes to these things but have not done alot of that yet. i did hear that nikon still has slow shutter lag time so that is of huge concern for me. i need something faster than my g3 has in that regard.

white lenses...guess i've not seen those yet.
