I did a search, but couldn't quite find the answer. My goal is to use the many 55mm filters from my film camera on my new G3. I have the LA-DC58B Canon tube, and can get a step-down ring 58->55 from Lensmate. I'm guessing that vignetting shouldn't be a problem given the 55's are larger than the standard Lensmate 52mm tube. Or, should I get the Lensmate 52 and get a step-up 52->55 ring to avoid possible vignetting? TIA...

I have the Canon tube and a step-down from 58 to 52 as I have a bunch of those filters. I have not seen any vignetting at 52 so you should be home free at 55.

Yes I agree, I have the 52mm lensmate and it works fine, have only noticed vignetting (actually flash blockage) when taking photo's in the pitch black with the flash, so with 55mm this might be slightly worse. The only reason I purchased the 52mm adapter was that it didn't block so much of the flash or focus beam.
As for true vignetting you should not experience this with daylight photography with 55mm filters attached.
