What hood should i get for my nifty 50 it needs something . all my others came with a hood .

i believe the nifty 50 is the 50 1.8.

canon makes a hood for the 1.4. mine cost about $39 out the door from keeble and shucat in palo alto.

go to B&H and check it out.

What hood should i get for my nifty 50 it needs something . all my others came with a hood . Greg, Canon's web site lists the ES-62 for the current 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Sorry... I assumed the "nifty fifty" was referring to the f/1.8 lens, thus that's what I looked up the hood for. I overlooked the title of the thread.

The "nifty fifty" term is usually applied to the cheapie 50mm f/1.8, not the much better 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Get the Canon one, it's not cheap but is felt lined and works well . ordered mine before I ordered the lens :)
