This poor baby came out from hybernation a little early and wandered up close to our house. It thought it was climbing a tree high enough for safety, but unfortunately for it, the tree was only about 6 feet tall.

Well I am rather disappointed. I thought ya'll might have enjoyed seeing this pic of a wild critter. I guess not?

Give us time to get to it ;-) Looks like he's playing peek-a-boo with you, only don't get too close, they have a nasty bite. A friend of ours caught one by the tail, tried to pull it off the tree (silly guy) and it gave him a piece of its mind! Nearly took his finger off! You'd have thought our mate would have known better, being an Aussie and all. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you rachel! I was seriously thinking that my pics weren't worth viewing. Serious self doubt was creeping in quickly!
Oh, and BTW...PeekaBoo is what I affectionately called this!

Nah, it does feel like that when you first start posting (quite scary I found) but think about when you look around on the forum yourself, you probably don't comment on every picture you see either. I think he's a very cute possum and the first I've seen on this forum. Nice capture :-)

Think he's cute too and like the way he's peeking through the foliage.

I think you are right superdiver...I never considered looking at it that way. He was really cute though, he just sat there while my daughter, husband and I examined it and shot the pics. He barely moved. I think he thought he was hiding well enough. LOL And thanks. :-D
