Hi
I just bought an A620. When I was installing the software onto my laptop it stopped responding half way through the task. I decided to start again and uninstalled those elements that had installed. When I reinstall I get a message that I don't need to do the install because it's already installed on the system, which it isn't.

I installed the software on another computer (that I don't own) and it was hunky dory, so I know that it can work. Question is: how do I install it on my laptop?

Maybe I need to delete every single trace of the software ever having been there but I'm not sure what I need to do to achieve that. Has anybody got any suggestions? Obviously the software has a couple of utilities that I want to use, like photostitch and the remote view feature. Otherwise, the camera itself is fantastic!

Go to Crap Cleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com)
Neat little utility that removes traces of unused or deleted programs from your system....and the price is right as well!

Excellent I'll try that. Looks like a great little utility as well. Thanks.

By the way, what's the general reading on canon's software programmes? Are they much to be reckoned with?

Like everything here...you will get two widely scattered sets of opinions. For starters, the Canon software isn't bad, but the features are somewhat limited. Once you get into serious post processing of your images, you will probably decide that you want software with a more robust set of features.

Yes, i thought it may be like that. I don't use photoshop too much although that's likely to change now i've got the A620. I only really wanted the canon utilites software for the remote assistant option, even the panaramic stitch programme isn't a must. I may just forget it altogether. i like to do it all in camera anyway, it's more satisfying. how it used to be in the olden days!
