hi there .
tonight I am shooting my first band in a club, lighting wont be strong point.
I have a 85mm 1.8 and a 50 1.8. Can anyone offer me sugestions on technique , settings , iso apeture, shutter speed etc etc to obtain best results with these 2 lenses in such a setting, your advice will be much apreciated.

The above is one of several threads on this. I think the 85 will give you some good head shots but you might want to use the 50 for full stage width. Just a wild guess cause we have so little to go on. I definitely would kick the ISO to 800 or 1600 and then worry about noise in Photoshop.

Good luck.

This one seems more extensive.

You could use the search and just put in "shooting concerts" or????

Depending on lighting, you're probable going to have to shoot wide open on aperture. Just adjust your iso accordinly to obtain a reasonable shutter speed so as to avoid lens shake. If you have the ability to stop down a little bit, do so, in order to increase your dof.

thanks for the advice much apreciated. prob iso 1600 is wise im thinking, as tripod shots wont be able to be done because of the setting. lighting is typical band pub type.
